The feel good factor from live music

We have all heard music that gives us 'goose pimples' or 'the hairs stand up on the back of our neck'. Live Music really does touch the emotions with 'feel good' responses.

Recently, research in Toronto concluded that live music has a beneficial effect upon individuals. Feel good hormones are secreted when music that is pleasant or which prompts good memories is heard. The responses in the brain are the same as when someone eats a favourite food.

Think of the positive impact this makes on an event, whether it be a corporate or private event? By creating high quality live music, your clients and guests will feel good due to the atmosphere created by the music.

Our message is: Use Live Music to ensure your event is a success!

The reliability of musicians in adverse weather conditions

It seems there is an 'Urban Myth' or a 'horror' story that goes round brides, that if weather is bad, the entertainment won't arrive.

Inevitably, given the nature of my business, I always hear people's 'horror' stories of unreliable musicians and am always very sorry to hear about them. There are, however, ways of ensuring you, the client receive the very best service, which includes musicians being present!

1. We know of a number of clients that book via the internet; they don't meet the people or they don't know anything about them, and a few weeks before the event they are let down. This is high risk: anyone can set up a website and sell their services. Go to a respected company such as Viva Live Music; although we charge more, we organise everything and ensure musicians will arrive!
2. A number of clients are making decisions just based on price. We understand that everyone has budgets, but a lower price certainly doesn't mean a better, more reliable service. Look at the overall quote: what does it include? A company such as Viva Live Music includes a number of extras to ensure your event is a success.
3. Always have a written contract from the musicians, which clearly states all aspects of the event and performance including when the musicians can set up.

Targets for 2011

The start of 2011 is an opportunity to review our business and the direction we are going in. We've had a busy Christmas and New Year and are excited about new projects, directions and opportunities. We are always interested to discuss ideas with others, including joint projects and collaborations.

Given that we decided, mid-year, to rebrand to 'Viva Live Music' from NSN PRODUCTIONS LIMITED, we didn't focus on all of our targets for last year. However, we believe the significance of the rebranding, including the website will have a major impact on the business in the next few years. So, although we're writing these targets down, they are open to review during the year. I will also review the targets at the beginning of July.

1. Create more videos of the musicians.
2. Create showreels of the musicians and other services we offer.
3. Maintain the blog; at least 2 times a week. The blog is going to be incorporated into the viva live music website, so that it becomes more visible on the web. Individual pages - news - will be updated constantly too!
4. We are continuing with the podcasts via audio boo; possibly we'll add some talk radio!
5. We are going to partner with other businesses and present joint collaborations.
6. We are not, however, going to compromise the quality of our service and musicians.
7. Discovery of more musicians; we have already signed up a couple of new musicians: great talent, and are looking forward to introducing them to our clients.
8. Expansion of the venues and organisations we are partnered with; geographically we are reaching a wider location!
9. Expansion of our services; we are now offering music event management for clients; this includes liaising with the catering staff for timings; sound levels etc.
10. Other new services: technical side - sound management, technical management, stage management for events.
11. Venue search service.
12. Management service for musicians? Advice, career development, advice for foreign artistes; setting up showcases.
13. Involving Gary and his talents more.
14. Selling of Artistes' CDs
15. More bespoke services.
